Professional Dimesions of Teaching I - EDTS 232

Fall 2016 - Final Grade: A+

This introductory course offers the opportunity to explore what is involved in being a teacher within the context of a classroom and a school. Through an examination of the teaching-learning process with reference to psycho-social, philosophical, and political influences in contemporary society, students explore the concept of personal worldview, its impact on teaching and learning and begin to construct an understanding of their own professional teaching identity. 

A two-semester practicum is included in this series where students learn the basics of lesson planning and functioning as a teacher in a classroom environment.

General Chemistry I - CHEM 201

Fall 2016 - Final Grade: A

This course features both lecture and laboratory work for instruction. In lecture, basic chemical concepts with an emphasis on stoichiometry; chemical bonding; atomic and molecular structure;the states of matter and phase changes; properties of solutions. In the laboratory, experiments are designed to illustrate the lecture material and to develop skill in using basic laboratory equipment.

Introduction to Biology I - BIOL 231

Fall 2016 - Final Grade: A

This course is an examination of the cellular basis of life, including biochemistry and genetics. Most concepts will be related to impacts on microbial life. Further detail will provide an overview of structure, function and application in viruses, bacteria, protists and fungi.

Principles of Psychology - PSYC 205

Fall 2016 - Final Grade: A

Focuses of course are fundamental procedures, findings, terminology and theories in the major areas of psychology. This course is a prerequisite to all of the senior psychology courses.

Introduction to Nutrition - NUTR 200

Fall 2016 - Final Grade: A

An introductory course designed to provide students with a basic understanding of the role of nutrition in health, disease & fitness. The course will cover both fundamental nutrition principles and practical applications. Current topics in the field will be examined critically. The overall goal of this course is to gain an understanding of individual nutrition needs as well as those of specialized populations. An extensive diet analysis report is included during the semester.
