This lesson included an introduction using the Dr. Seuss book "Apples up on Top" as an introduction. Prior to the lesson, pictures of them were taken making silly faces and they were printed and cut out to use in the activity, After reading the book, students were given 10 apple cutouts and their face cutout. After gluing their own face to their page, they numbered their apples, counting by even 2's, 5's, or 10's for grade 1's, and odd 2's, 3's, or 10's starting on a number other than 0 for grade 2's. Once they were done, they were hung on the whiteboard and students used pointers to go through their classmates's projects and count along their apples.

This lesson demonstrates an ability to plan engaging Cross-curricular lesson plans that are relevant to the student, differentiates for grade levels or ability levels, includes a creative component, and scaffolds from the basic skip counting practice students had already experienced.
